Chicago, Illinois USA
Announcers: Tony Schiavone & Taz
We are live at the Black x Brave Wrestling Academy in Chicago Illinois for a very special episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling! We head down to ringside where Tony Schiavone will be making his RoH debut as he has the honor of providing commentary for tonight’s broadcast alongside Taz.
Taz: Welcome everybody to Ring of Honor Wrestling! As always, I’m Taz, the Human Suplex Machine joined on commentary by my partner tonight, Tony Schiavone! Welcome to Ring of Honor Tony, and most importantly, welcome back to the booth!
Schiavone: It’s great to be here to call the action alongside you Taz, hopefully I’m not too rusty! We have a great show line up for you tonight! Not only is Ring of Honor in the United States for the first time ever under the Eric Bischoff regime, but tonight marks the first television broadcast at Seth Rollins’ Black x Brave Wrestling Academy, which we can now announce will be the official US home of Ring of Honor Wrestling for the foreseeable future! Ring of Honor is back to weekly television and with locations to film in both the United States and Canada, we can guarantee you that you’ll be able to see all your favourites each and every week moving forward!
Taz: It’s great to be back to work, especially when we’ve got such a light workload tonight, only 1 match is on the card?
Schiavone: That’s right Taz! Due to an agreement that was made by Kurt Angle and Seth Rollins in order to make sure this match was a fair one-on-one contest, everybody in the company has been barred from the building with the exception of ourselves in the broadcast booth, Justin Roberts, a RoH referee, two paramedics, a couple of cameramen and of course the competitors themselves!
Taz: You may have been better off reading a list of who isn’t here Tony! This match is going to be one for the Ring of Honor history books, but the big question lingering in the air right now, is what does the future hold for Kurt Angle?
Schiavone: That is the million dollar question. Kurt Angle was apparently set to announce his retirement during last week’s broadcast in an interview with Mauro Ranallo and Christian, but when he was asked to clarify his comments, he was cut off by the RoH World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins who issued this challenge for tonight, siting unfinished business. Does Kurt Angle retire regardless of tonight’s result, or will getting back to work reignite the passion in the Olympic Gold Medalist? Only time will tell!
{We get a video recapping the events that started at the RoH World Heavyweight Championship Tournament that have all lead up to this moment}
Following the end of the video, the camera is already focusing on Justin Roberts who is in the ring, ready to start the match.
Roberts: The following contest is schedule for 1 Fall with TV time remaining, and it is for the Ring of Honor….WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAAAAAAMPIONSHIP! Introducing first….
Justin Roberts: FRRROOOOM Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, weighing in at 220lbs, The Olympic Gold Medalist, Kurt…..ANGLEEEEEEE!
BURN IT DOOOOOOOOOOWWWWN!
Justin Roberts: ANNNND the Champion! Representing Age of the Fall….From Davenport Iowa, weighing in at 217lbs, he is the Ring of Honor WORLD HEAAAAAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIIIOOOON, The SAVIOUR OF RING OF HONOR! Seth…..ROOOOOOOOOOLINSSSS!
Taz: Did Justin Roberts just call Rollins “The Saviour of Ring of Honor”?
Schiavone: According to my notes Taz, Seth Rollins see himself as the man who has saved Ring of Honor from bankruptcy and irrelevance by allowing future broadcasts to be taped from his gym here in Chicago. He’s demanded that Justin Roberts now refer to him as “The Saviour of Ring of Honor” from here on.
Angle and Rollins meet in the middle of the ring, both men looking completely focused as they face each other for potentially the final time in their careers.
DING! DING! DING!
The bell rings and Rollins immediately shoves Angle back. Angle however calming walks back towards Rollins and headbutts him right in the nose, causing The Champion to drop to his knees.
An then begins to unload on Rollins with a barrage of right hands that causes Rollins to retreat backwards, backing himself in to the corner, where Angle continues to unload on him with more rights until the referee manages to get in the middle of them, scolding Angle for using closed fists. Angle shrugs off the referee’s warning before heading back over to Rollins, but Seth manages to get a boot up to the face of Angle which staggers him backwards. Seeing an early opportunity to strike, Rollins charges at Angle, but Kurt reacts quickly, grabbing a hold of Rollins and planting him down to the mat with a belly-to-belly suplex! Rollins is quick to his feet though, but Kurt Angle is even quicker as he latches on to Rollins and nails him with another Belly-To-Belly!
Schiavone: Another belly-to-belly by Kurt Angle!
Taz: Angle is fired up tonight Tony! He means business!
Seeing Rollins on the mat, Angle quickly goes for an ankle, but Rollins is able to use his other leg to push Angle back and rolls out of the ring to gain some separation between the two. As the referee begins his 10-count, Rollins takes a moment to catch his breath before slowly pulling himself back up to the apron as Angle stands in the middle of the ring, ready for him. Rollins teases getting back in the ring as Angle takes a step forward, but quickly hops back off the apron to the floor with a smile on his face, breaking the referee’s count and giving himself another moment to prepare on the outside. Agitated, Angle begins to shout at Rollins to get back in the ring, but the Champion is in no hurry to oblige. Beginning to run out of patience, Angle slides out of the ring after Rollins, but Seth slides in the ring at the same time. Not wanting to play any games, Angle rolls back in to the ring, but Rollins pounces on him stomping on Angle’s back and shoulders and he tries to get back to his feet. Kurt Angle however manages to somehow still make it back to his feet while Rollins continues to wail on him and lunges towards Rollins in a Greco-Roman style takedown, but Rollins manages to just slip out of Angle’s grasp and meets Angle as he’s getting back to his knees with an Avada Kedavra!
Schiavone: AVADA KEDAVRA!
Taz: The Champion saw his opportunity and took it Tony!
Rollins covers Angle, but the Kurt is able to kick up at 1! Slightly frustrated, but knowing it’s going to take more than that to keep Kurt Angle down, Rollins exhales loudly before getting back to work on his opponent. Angles slowly sits up, only to be slapped in the back of the head by Seth Rollins, who then levels Angle with a hard kick right to the spine which echoes across the empty arena, being muffled only slightly by the loud yelp from Angle himself. Angle rolls to his knees, trying to get back to his feet, but is met with a running kick to the midsection by Rollins which causes Angle to roll out of the ring holding his stomach. Seeing another opportunity to continue to inflict damage on Angle, Rollins waits until Angle is starting to get to his feet before hitting the ropes and flipping over the top rope on to an unaware Angle with a suicide senton!
Schiavone: What a dive!
Taz: Rollins with that Suicide Senton dive to the outside on Kurt Angle! Angle is down, but at what cost to The Champion?
Angle is hurt from taking the brunt of the senton, but Rollins also seems to have knocked himself around a little from the impact, though he still manages to make it to his feet before his opponent. Rollins rolls in and out of the ring quickly to break the referee’s 10-count, before going back to Angle on the outside of the ring. Rollins picks up Angle and sends him back first in to the brick wall of the building, before grabbing Angle’s head and smashing it against the steel steps. Rollins grabs Angle by the head again, but Angle manages to drive an elbow in to the ribs of Rollins before grabbing him by the wrist and attempting to throw him in to the ring steps, but Rollins counters and sends Angle crashing side first in to the steps instead. Rollins then quickly sprints towards Angle, using his agility and strength to run across the brick wall, catching Angle with a Slingshot Neckbreaker off the wall to the concrete floor!
Taz: Wow! What athleticism by Seth Rollins!
Shiavone: Seth Rollins showing off his parkour skills there with an incredible wall run in to a Slingshot Neckbreaker on to Kurt Angle! He’s really focusing his attacks to the back and the surgically repaired neck of Kurt Angle.
Rollins grabs Angle and rolls him in to the ring where he goes for a cover, but Angle is able to get a shoulder up just after the count of 2! Annoyed, Rollins grabs Angle head before slamming back down to the mat a couple times in frustration. Rollins gets to his feet and threatens to toss the referee out of his building for what he is suggesting is a slow count by the referee. Taking moment to cool off, Rollins paces the ring for a moments before pulling Angle by up to his feet by the neck. Rollins grabs Angle’s wrist and goes to pull him in to a Revolution-Knee, but Angles manages to duck under the arms of Rollins, slipping behind him and clutching his arms around Rollin’s waist before taking him down with a German Suplex! Angle keeps his grabs firmly around the waist of Rollins, slowly pulling the both back to their feet where he delivers a second German Suplex, then a doing the same thing before delivering a third German Suplex to Rollins!
Schiavone: Three German Suplexes in unison from Kurt Angle! He may have taken quite the beating outside the ring, but Angle is showing a never say die attitude here managing to fight his way out of a V-Trigger attempt from Rollins in order to pull those off!
Taz: Kenny Omega might call that the V-Trigger Tony, but before he came to Ring of Honor that move was called the Revolution-Knee and if I’m a betting man, which I am, I’d put my money on Rollins’ version over Kenny Omega’s!
Immediately after Rollins hits the mat following the third German Suplex, Angle releases his hold on Rollins and rolls away holding his neck in some very obvious discomfort. With both men down on the mat, the referee has no choice but to begin a standing 10-count, though Angle, still feeling the effects on the compression on his surgically repaired neck, is quick to get to his feet to beat the referee’s count as Rollins lays on the mat on his back staring up at the ceiling. Angle see’s Rollins is still down and senses this could be his moment to finally capture another piece of Championship Gold! Still wincing in pain, Angle pulls down the straps on his singlet. Angle goes to grab Rollins, but Seth was playing possum and quickly Rolls Angle up for a pin.

Angle just manages to kick out as Rollins almost had him there! Rollins charges at Angle with a High Knee, trying to catch Kurt and get gets back to his feet, but Angle Rolls out of the way and grabs Rollins’ ankle! Trying to lock in an Ankle Lock, Seth manages to use his core strength to push himself back up to his feet and he stands on one leg, while Angle still has the other firmly in his grasp. Needing a way to get away from Angle, Rollins spits in the face of Kurt, who then quickly spins Rollins around by the leg and lays him out with an Angle Slam!
Schiavone: Angle Slam! Kurt Angle hits the Angle Slam!
Taz: Do we have a new Champion?!
Angle covers Rollins.

2……………………………………..
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Rollins kicks out just before the 3 count, much to the surprise of Kurt Angle and the referee who both thought this match was over! Angle pulls Rollins to his feet and nails him with a heavy right hand that staggers him. Angle with another, then another as Rollins staggers towards the ropes. Seeing Rollins’ position, Angle takes a step back before charging towards Rollins, but Seth side steps Angle at the last second sending Angle over the top rope. Angle manages to hold on to the rope, and pulls himself back up on to the apron, but Rollins is waiting for him and grabs Angle by the head, using his momentum, Rollins leads Angle to the closest corner and smashes his head off the turnbuckle! Angle staggers back, that impact must of busted him open the hard way as there is blood visible on the forehead of the Olympic Gold Medalist. Keeping a hold of him, Rollins climbs the second rope and uses all his strength to pull Angle up to the top rope, setting up for a Super DDT to the match. Angle however manages to block Rollins, pushing him back to allow enough time for Angle to get himself better situation on the ropes. Rollins comes charging back at Angle looking to Monkey Flip him off the turnbuckle, but Angle shoves him backwards again, sending Rollins crashing down to the mat on his back. With Angle on the top rope and Rollins on his back, Angle gets set up backwards and lands a beautifully timed Moonsault to Rollins!
Schiavone: What a moonsault by Angle!
Taz: Picture perfect landing!
Angle hops back up to his feet yelling towards the hard camera that it’s time to end things. Angle pulls Rollins back up to his feet and gets behind him for another Angle Slam, but Rollins manages a back kick that nails Angle directly in the groin which was somehow missed by the RoH referee! Angle drops to his knees in pain, and Rollins nails him with a running knee to the face that floors the challenger! Seeing Angle down on the mat, Rollins heads to the corner looking to set up for The Stomp. Rollins waits for Angle to slowly get himself in position and charges towards Angle for The Stomp, but Angle quickly manages to roll away and grabs Rollins’ leg, taking him down and locking him in the Ankle Lock!
Taz: ANKLE LOCK! ANGLE’S GOT THE ANKLE LOCK!
Schiavone: Seth Rollins is in the middle of the ring, could we have a new Champion?!
Ankle continues to twist and squeeze the ankle of The Champion to squeals in pain as he’s unable to reach a rope. Fearing this is his last chance, Rollins manages to roll, but Angle doesn’t lose grip of Rollins’ ankle and instead drops down in to the vine position to better secure the hold!
Rollins has nowhere to go, he’s locked in the Ankle Lock and has no choice but to tap out!
Schiavone: Seth Rollins taps out!
Taz: Yeah, but look at the referee Tony!
Seeing Rollins tap out, Angle turns his attention to the official to see he’s laid on out on the mat. As Angle releases the hold on Rollins to check on the referee, a replay is shown to the television audience that shows the referee was knocked over by Angle when Rollins tried to roll out of the submission hold and therefore missed the tap! As Angle continues to try and shake the referee awake, one of the camera men at ringside slides in to the ring.
Schiavone: Look at this idiot, stay out for the ring until after the match! Where did they hire these guys?
Taz: Hold on a second Tony, look out!
Just then, the cameraman charges towards Angle who is still preoccupied with the referee and smashes the camera in to the back of Angle’s skull, knocking him unconscious. Dropping the damaged camera, the man then takes off his hat as another camera zooms in on him to reveal him as none other than Ken Kennedy!
Taz: What the hell?!
Schiavone: That’s Ken Kennedy! A member of Team Angle, a FRIEND of Team Angle! Why is he helping Seth Rollins?!
Kennedy stands over Angle’s motionless body for a moment, his face showing an angry stare. He then drags Angle up to his feet before quickly planting him back down on the mat with a Mic Check!
Rollins, is sitting in the corner looking completely stunned at what just happened as Kennedy stands over Angle once again. The shock then turns to a smile as Rollins pulls himself to his feet and limps over to Kennedy with his arms wide open, looking to embrace him. Kennedy though shows he wants nothing to do with Rollins, as he slaps his arm away and can be heard saying “I didn’t do for you, I did it for me!” Kennedy then leaves the ring and begins to head to the back as Rollins watches him leave in confusion.
Taz: I doesn’t look like Kennedy’s intention was to help Seth Rollins, Tony.
Schiavone: I did it for me? I wonder what that means?
Seeing the referee now beginning to stir, Rollins quickly pushes the camera out of the ring and heads over to the corner where he waits a badly injured Kurt Angle to slowly begin to stir. As Angle slowly begins to try and crawl towards the ropes to pull himself to his feet, Rollins comes running in and nails Angle with The Stomp!
Taz: There it is Tony!
Schiavone: What a way to ruin a great match.
Rollins covers Angle as the referee slowly starts to count.

Winner ANNNND STIIIIILLLLL ROH WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: Seth Rollins by pinfall @42:57
Rollins celebrates in the ring with his retained Championship thanks to the help of Ken Kennedy as the graphic for the end of the show flashes in the corner of the screen. We slowly begin to fade out as the commentary team say their final goodnights to the audience watching at home.
Schiavone: It’s over folks, Seth Rollins retains the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship in a classic match that was ruined by the interference of Ken Kennedy!
Taz: Hate to see it end this way Tony, but it was still a great match!
Schiavone: It’s unfortunate that things had to come down that way, but when will Ken Kennedy explain his actions? Is this really it for Kurt Angle’s wrestling career? We’re out of time tonight, but we’ll hopefully have the answers for you all next week. Goodnight folks!
