AEW Dynamite
January 29, 2020
Live from Richmond, VA
The first AEW Dynamite of the new year opens up with a huge pyro display! The cameras pan around the arena showing thousands of eager AEW fans holding up signs and cheering, some of these signs reading things like “Where’s Kross?” and “Tessa Is Crappy.”
Kevin Kelly: WELCOME to the first Dynamite of the new year! I’m Kevin Kelly, he’s Don Callis, and what a night we have in store!
Don Callis: Oh yeah, Kevin! I’m so excited to be back here on AEW Dynamite, and this Richmond crowd is already electric!
Kevin Kelly: And despite having tried to get answers, Dynamite General Manager Mark Henry has been unable to do so regarding the AEW tag team champions, PCO and Brody King. And nobody has seen or heard from Killer Kross! This is still such a mystery.
Don Callis: I’m afraid Kross is gonna appear out of nowhere, or just rear his ugly mug at the most unexpected time!
Kevin Kelly: Careful what you say about Kross, Don. We have a stacked card for this evening - so let’s get to it!
Match 1
“The National Treasure” Nick Aldis v. “The Machine” Brian Cage
Nick Aldis def. Brian Cage at 8:29 via Top Rope Elbow drop. This is certainly a significant win for Aldis - perhaps the most significant of his AEW career - to defeat a the inaugural AEW National Champion. Though Cage was able to execute several powerful moves on Aldis, the National Treasure was able to use his in-ring prowess to overcome the Machine.
Dakota Kai is backstage. She says that Tessa Blanchard knows time is ticking and that it won’t be much longer that she’ll have that AEW Women’s title. Dakota Kai says Tessa’s legacy is going to end before it even gets started when Kai kicks her teeth down her throat. Dakota says her upcoming match against Ronda Rousey will determine who gets to choose the stipulation for the upcoming Women’s Title match against Tessa Blanchard. She says Tessa might have money to buy people’s loyalty, but she doesn’t have enough money to compensate for her lack of heart and integrity.
Match 2
Dakota Kai v. Ronda Rousey
Dakota Kai def. Ronda Rousey at 9:53 via Diving Double Foot Stomp. This match was surprisingly back and forth with both women getting equal offense. Ronda tried to implement her ground game against Dakota, but Dakota’s kicks ultimately were too much for Ronda to handle which rendered her nearly unconcious. The exclamation mark at the end with the double foot stomp sealed the deal and Dakota Kai has won the right to choose the stipulation against Tessa Blanchard - next week!
“Wildcat” Chris Harris and “Cowboy” James Storm, collectively known as America’s Most Wanted, are standing backstage. Harris states that since coming to AEW, they’ve been able to show the world that they have a lot left in the tank. Storm takes over the promo, yelling, about how they don’t know what’s going on with the AEW tag titles, but they want them and they want them soon.
Match 3
America’s Most Wanted v. The Good Brothers
America’s Most Wanted def. The Good Brothers at 7:42 via Last Call Superkick on Anderson from Storm. This was a fun tag team match that highlighted both strengths of the team. It appeared to be over when the Good Brothers attempted the Magic Killer, but Harris was able to break up the move leading to Storm hitting the superkick for the “W.”
One of AEW’s newest signings, Tim Storm, is standing backstage. He says that he’s a former world champion in his own right but he admits his career has slowed down quite a bit the last few years. He says that he has a lot left to prove in the world of wrestling and that Momma Storm has encouraged him to either take this “wrasslin” thing seriously, or hang up the boots and move on. Storm said he’ll be damned if he stops now. He says he has quite an opportunity tonight against the National Champion, Elijah Burke. Storm says it’s time to show the world who Tim Storm is, and he’ll be delighted to shut up the Pope in the process.
Match 4
“The Pope” Elijah Burke v. Tim Storm
Elijah Burke def. Tim Storm at 6:08 via the Elijah Experience. Tim Storm looked good in this match hanging in there with the National Champion, but he wasn’t able to get the job done as Burke was just too crafty in the ring. After the match, Burke grabs a mic and says that this was the easiest win of his life but that won’t last long. He says when he faces Chris Benoit at the next pay-per-view, that will become the easiest win of his life. He calls Benoit washed up and says he should consider going on social security because he just can’t hang anymore, just like his old friend Tim Storm.
Match 5
Kota Ibushi v. “The Villain” Marty Scurll
Kota Ibushi def. Marty Scurll at 16:32 after having match of the night. This was an incredible contest between both men that garnered “This is awesome” as well as “Fight forever” chants. After the match, Kenny Omega ambushed Kota Ibushi and beat him down in the center of the ring until referees pulled him off. With a crazed look in his eyes, Kenny left the ring leaving Kota Ibushi in tears in the center of the ring as this feud of the Golden Lovers continues.
General Manager Mark Henry and the AEW World Champion Daniel Bryan are backstage. Daniel Bryan asks Henry what’s going to happen moving forward. Bryan says that the tag division is growing upset because nobody knows what’s going on with the tag team champions, PCO and Brody King. Bryan also states he’s growing restless because he wants to get his hands on Killer Kross, but his whereabouts are still unknown. Henry assures Bryan that, next week, if Killer Kross doesn’t appear and answer these questions directly, he will be FIRED from All Elite Wrestling. Bryan shrugs and throws his hands up, knowing that Mark Henry’s hands are tied in this situation.
Suddenly, a stagehand rushes up to Mark Henry out of breath. The stagehand hands Mark Henry an envelope and then scurries away. Mark and Bryan look at the envelope, confused. Mark Henry opens it…
PCO and King, A.K.A. the traitors, are in the hospital after Aleister and I beat them to a bloody pulp. I tried to bury them alive but, after receiving unreliable intel, the plan was not executed properly. I've already dealt with that situation. Old man Mitchell has quit the wrestling industry because he couldn't handle my style of business. As for me, I'm surrounded by these concrete walls...it feels like home.
Mark, know this - I will get out. And when I do, I will destroy All Elite Wrestling from the inside out. Or outside in. Doesn't matter to me. Your choice.
-X
P.S.: Tell Daniel Bryan's wife I'll see her soon.

Mark Henry's eyes grow wide as he reads the note. He lets out a sigh and hands the note to Bryan. Bryan screams and kicks over a nearby chair as the fans are stunned in silence. And with that, AEW Dynamite goes off the air.
