"Welcome to Hardcore TV folks and tonight begins the road to Wrestlepalooza!"
Tony Schiavone starts the show off doing his usual schtick next to Joel Gertner. The two hype up the fact that Paul Heyman earlier this night released to the press that ECW Wrestlepalooza would be in just two weeks plus a special show the week after that will be announced when the full of the press release goes public. Schiavone mentions that tonight's main event will be a big one, as Joey Janela conducts the team of The Rascalz against Contra Unit who have signed on to the 4 on 4 but the fourth member of the team is unknown! Before they can go any further, Gertner says that it's time for the debut of...
Kota Ibushi vs. Myron Reed
This is a very fast-paced match as soon as it starts. The crowd from the "ECW Arena" are very aware of Kota Ibushi and what he can do and are actively cheering for him throughout the whole match. The chants and cheers for Ibushi do start to get to Reed's head, feeling that he deserves them as well but this also allows Reed to amp it up and bring some of his best. Unfortunately, against a guy like Ibushi that certainly isn't possible, after he clears Reed out with a Golden Star Bomb followed up with his Kamigoye knee in just barely eight minutes.
After the match is over, we're treated to an interview between Darby Allin and Jimmy Havoc, interviewed by Tony Schiavone. Havoc and Allin say that they have a problem with Los Ingobernables coming to ECW like they're owed everything just because of their exposure in international areas. Like Havoc and Allin are doing right now, they have to earn it and gain the respect of the people here, and Havoc says that they're gonna teach Rush and Naito a thing about respect. Before they can continue the interview, Rush and Naito must've overheard and didn't take a liking to this as they immediately go to the attack on the future stars of ECW, stomping them out and then throwing them against the wall. Rush curses the two out in Spanish and then backs up, Naito teling Rush to stay tranquilo.
Mark Andrews vs. Sabu - Hardcore Match
Under "hardcore" rules, the pressure is up for Mark Andrews who is getting his first big match here in ECW against Sabu. Sabu definitely doesn't go easy on Andrews and this is a very competitive match. Both Andrews and Sabu speed through the ring, hitting some hard-hitting and flashy moves. Sabu obviously is the first to introduce weapons but Andrews is able to outclass Sabu at his own game. Andrews shows a mean streak, realizing that's what's gonna get him the win and starts to batter Sabu over and over with chairs.
Chairs aren't really enough as Sabu fights back, and sends Andrews through a table. While Andrews is recovering Sabu pulls a piece of barbed wire from off a barbed wire bat and wraps it around his arm. Sabu uses the ropes for momentum and leaps out for a elbow suicida using the barbed wire arm to clock Andrews from out the air. Sabu rains down shots to Andrew's head with the barbed wire around his arm and rains down stomps. Sabu picks up Andrews and throws him in. Sabu rolls in after Andrews and goes for a clothesline but Andrews is able to duck and take him down with a superkick. From then on the control of the match switches very swiftly again and in the end it's Mark Andrews who has definitely proved he can hang with some of the best extremists in ECW. Despite putting up a good show, Sabu beat him after stepping up off the top rope to hit a Tornado DDT to Andrews on the top rope through a table. Sabu gets up and embraces Andrews, showing respect to the 27 year old.
Joey Janela and The Rascalz (Trey Miguel, Desmond Xavier, and Zachary Wentz) vs. Contra Unit (Simon Gotch, Jacob Fatu, Josef Samael, and "X") - Tornado Tag
This extreme tornado tag 4 on 4 match starts with a lot of mystique as Contra Unit come to the ring without their fourth member and the match immediately jumps to a start! It's a 4 on 4 but Team Janela already has an advantage! While Janela is out the ring brawling with Gotch, and Samael is beating Trey Miguel up outside the ring; Desmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz decide to use their advantage over Contra Unit by working over Jacob Fatu to get the biggest threat in the match hurt. The plan works until Jacob Fatu is able to overpower them and take two men out effortlessly on his own.
After Janela has Gotch down temporarily with DDT outside the ring, he rolls in with a kendo stick and starts beating Fatu over the back from behind. Janela beats down his supposed challenger for Wrestlepalooza but he is able to shrug off the kendo shots and attack Janela. His attack over Janela is shortlived after Janela fights back, and Fatu turns around to a double dropkick from Wentz and Xavier. After the two see Gotch and Samael outside the ring ganging up on Miguel, they hit a double Tope Con Hilo on the two!
Janela nod at the dive The Rascalz just did but is completely oblivious to the fact Jacob Fatu is back up and he has a chair! Janela turns around to a brutal chair shot to the head! Fatu rolls out the ring, grabbing a barbed wire board. Fatu places the board on the apron against the railing, using it as a bridge. Fatu rolls in, and then hits a rising Janela with a superkick, then picks him back up to hoist him above his head for a powerbomb throw out the ring through the barbed wire board! The "Holy Shit" chants fill the arena while Schiavone and Gertner talk about how that powerbomb may have just put Janela out of this match for good.
Fatu is taunting in the ring, but turns around to a weakened Trey Miguel trying to fight him off. Miguel does get his moments in where he's able to use speed over power but forgets that Jacob is just as agile as he is and takes him down. Jacob kneels and rains down some sickening blows to Miguel. Desmond Xavier rolls in and dropkicks Jacob Fatu into the ropes, then catches him with a Hurricanrana. Desmond rolls to all fours and signals to Miguel, who steps off Xavier to complete a Poetry In Motion on Fatu! Miguel and Xavier run to the corner, hitting stereo knees to the head of Fatu. Xavier throws Fatu out the corner on his back and climbs the top rope, hitting a 450 Splash, with Miguel following off with a split-legged moonsault. Both go for the cover, but Simon Gotch rolls in to break the pin.
Simon Gotch fights off both Trey Miguel and Desmond Xavier, but a ducked punch attempt on Miguel leads to a double superkick to Gotch, knocking him to the corner. Desmond signals another Poetry In Motion, but Samael rolls in and nails Trey with a lariat that turns him inside out. Xavier can't get back to his feet as Gotch stomps him all the way down. Samael and Gotch stomp Xavier out then pick him up. Samael holds Xavier up high, signalling for a powerbomb then tosses him into Gotch who hits him with a roundhouse kick to the back of the head. Xavier hits the ground hard, holding the back of his head and rolls out. Jacob Fatu rises to his feet and Trey Miguel looks over to them, realizing it's now a three on one.
Before Contra Unit can do anything, Zachary Wentz rolls in, trying to fight the three off on his own. Contra Unit easily outnumber Wentz, then shove him out the ring. Miguel realizing he doesn't have much of a chance going at it on his own doesn't care and rises to his feet, going straight for the big threat in Jacob Fatu. Gotch and Samael pull Miguel off Fatu and then hold him up so Fatu can get some strikes in over Miguel. The two throw Miguel to Fatu who hits him with a Pop-up samoan drop. Fatu steps out the ring, heading up the top rope so he can hit his double jump moonsault on Miguel. Xavier and Wentz roll back in with chairs!
The two hit Gotch and Samael with the chairs. They nail them with two more chair shots, sending the two out the ring. Wentz and Xavier roll out the ring and continue to wail on Gotch and Samael outside. The brief distraction allows Miguel to roll out the way of the Moonsault, and then allows Joey Janela to come back in and tackle Fatu from behind! Janela rains down stiff punches on Fatu, while the chaos continues outside the ring. Janela picks up Fatu, and cradles him for a Package Piledriver! Janela nods, and rolls out the ring to the top rope; he wants to end this here with a pin over the man he's facing at Wrestlepalooza! Janela stands perched on the top rope, until some man in a mask hops the apron, takes the mask off and nails Janela with some red mist!
Janela holds his face, collapsing off the top rope into Jacob Fatu who catches him to hit a brutal Samoan Drop! The man on the apron nods, as it seems he was the fourth man, waiting in the shadows. He watches the ring as The Rascalz are held down by Contra Unit and Trey Miguel is still knocked out. Fatu covers Janela, nodding along to the ref's count. One! Two! Three! Contra Unit are the ones to come out victorious tonight in a super main event on Hardcore TV.
