"Welcome to ECW and we have a big main event in store tonight!"
As usual Tony Schiavone and Joel Gertner go through with their normal routine, hyping up the show tonight including tonight's main event between Too Cool and The Hart Foundation. Schiavone notes that Rikishi has been banned from ringside as well as Davey Boy Smith Jr. Schiavoen announces the first match of the night will be Jimmy Havoc vs Tetsuya Naito, continuing the unfinished business of Los Ingobernables and the duo of Jimmy Havoc and Paul Robinson, who is currently out of action with an injury by the hands of Rush and Tetsuya Naito.
Jimmy Havoc vs. Tetsuya Naito
Despite the major contrast in styles, this match is a real barn knocker to start off the show. Naito and Havoc mix their styles up, starting the match up with stiff potato shots to the head. The action is fast paced and all over the place which is a major difference in style from both wrestlers. Due to the sudden change in pace, six minutes into the match both men don't look as energetic as they were when the match start and surprisingly takes an end to the match at the seven minute mark after Naito hits Havoc with his patented Destino following blinding Havoc with a spit to the face.
The fans are shocked at the quick finish but Naito wastes no time for celebrating and instead goes straight to putting the boots to Havoc. Rush comes down and assists his ally Naito in beating up Havoc. Havoc lays there defenseless since he wasted all his energy going straight at Naito and his friend Paul Robinson is out hurt. Naito signals for Rush to pick Havoc up and hold him to set up another Destino, but Darby Allin runs down!
Allin runs past Rush and Naito and hops up the ropes, nailing both men with a Coffin Drop off the top rope. Darby gets to his feet, punching off against Naito and Rush even through the numbers advantage. Allin ducks a lariat attempt from Rush and sends him straight into Naito, dropkicking both men out the ring. Allin stands in the ring asking them to come back in but Rush shakes his head and the two head to the back licking their wounds. Allin helps up Havoc and Havoc nods to him as a thank you.
Simon Gotch Open Challenge
Simon Gotch comes down to the ring, with no Contra Unit at his side. Gotch says that Contra Unit are off out of this crap city wrecking havoc wherever he pleases, so there should be no fear for his opponent tonight. Gotch paces around, waiting for his opponent and you can see how quick his reaction changes when Joey Janela's theme plays!
Janela runs down, his ribs taped up but he doesn't care! Janela enters the ring and ducks a right hand attempt from Gotch and catches Gotch with one of his own! The bell rings and Janela rams Gotch into the corner but I don't think he cares that the match is going on.
Janela rains down a fury of punches over Gotch who is in the corner covering up. Janela doesn't do his usual taunting to the crowd and instead wants to extract revenge on Gotch who is all alone and vulnerable tonight. Janela throws Gotch out the corner and tackles him down to the ground, continuing the flurry of punches. Gotch shoves Janela off and rolls out to the ring, trying to flee the area.
Janela rolls out, following after Gotch until he's blindsided from behind! It's Josef Samael and following behind him is Jacob Fatu! The bell rings and Gotch nods over to Contra Unit, who in fact was here! Gotch holds his jaw and laughs, nodding as his plan all came into play. Contra Unit beat down on Janela while Gotch watches.
Samael throws Janela in the ring along with Fatu. The two beat down on Janela. Fatu picks up Janela and holds him while Samael digs in his singlet, pulling out that spike! Janela elbows Fatu, he elbows him again then punches him out of the ring, showing sign of life. Janela turns around to fight off Josef only to get nailed straight by that spike! Janela hits the ground, holding the forehead and bleeding profusely. Gotch rolls in, with the Contra Flag followed by Fatu. Gotch raises the flag then rolls it around Janela's body, trapping him in there. Gotch lays in a few more stomps to Janela, then stops, posing with Contra Unit.
Too Cool (Scotty 2 Hotty and Grandmaster Sexay) vs Hart Foundation (Brian Pillman Jr and Teddy Hart) - ECW World Tag Team Titles
With the outside interference of the Hart Foundation barred, this was definitely a match where Pillman and Hart had to prove they were a worthy team. The entertaining and fast paced Too Cool went straight at it, knowing this was a chance that may never come if they lose tonight.
Shades of younger Teddy Hart showcased, as he pulled out innovative and nasty looking moves over his opponents. Brian Pillman Jr entered this match and immediately went to working down Grandmaster Sexay. Christopher was able to fight back against Pillman and made the tag off to Scotty 2 Hotty who wrestled like a man posessed.
Scotty 2 Hotty came in with a lot of fire and knocked both Pillman Jr and Hart down. For a second he almost got distracted with appealing to the fans and that was just the one opening Pillman needed to take advantage again. Once the Hart Foundation took control again, they would almost never lose it. After tagging in and out and working well as a team it seemed likely this would be an one sided affair going into the end.
Scotty 2 Hotty, using the crowd was able to avoid a double lariat and reversed it with a double armdrag. Scotty 2 Hotty went for the tag, but because both Pillman and Hart were in at the same time they could pull him away from his partner. Scotty 2 Hotty was able to kick them both away from him and made the tag to Grandmaster Sexay. Brian Christopher came in and sent Pillman out the ring and focused on the legal Teddy Hart.
Christopher went for the top rope, trying at a crossbody but was caught in mid air with a dropkick from Teddy Hart. Hart calls for Pillman to get in the ring but he's still knocked down. Hart steps out and just because he's calling for Pillman he steps in and walks straight into a small package from Grandmaster Sexay for a bare two count! Christopher rises to his feet and ducks a superkick and nails him with one of his own. Christopher slaps the mat, fueling up with energy from the crowd.
Christopher awaited Hart's arise and hit the ropes. Pillman ran in at the time heturned his back to Hart and Hart caught Christopher in an Inverted Atomic drop, holding him there for Pillman to nail him to complete the Hart Attack! Pillman rolled out, holding Scotty 2 Hotty down while Hart took the pin over Christopher to win the match for his team and maintain the ECW World Tag Team Titles.
Too Cool put up a valiant effort, but in the end it's the Hart Foundation who retains and continues to still have gold around their waist. Davey Boy Smith Jr comes down to the ring to embrace with Pillman Jr and Hart.
Teddy signals to Davey Boy Smith Jr who exits the ring and picks up Scotty 2 Hotty, tossing him in the ring and following after. Davey Boy picks up Scotty as well as Grandmaster Sexay. But instead of attacking, Teddy waves Davey off and holds his hand out to the two, in which Pillman follows in.
Too Cool and the Hart Foundation shake hands, respect being shown on both team's behalf. Too Cool nod to Hart Foundation and then roll out, allowing Hart Foundation to continue their celebration as champs while Tony Schiavone write us off for the week.
