"Welcome to ECW! Just 5 days removed from the amazing HEATWAVE PPV!"
The show opens up with an obviously hyped up Tony Schiavone and Joel Gertner, following ECW's first PPV, Heatwave. Schiavone goes on to say that Heatwave was a great event but in the main event tonight we will crown the first ever ECW World TV Champion in a matchup between KUSHIDA and Chris Hero, which will be set to be a great matchup between two of the best strikers in ECW. Gertner interupts Schiavone and tells him it's the in-ring debut of MVP!
MVP (2007) vs. Mark Andrews
The first match of the night is a quick showcase of MVP against Mark Andrews who hasn't been seen since the first episode of Hardcore TV. Andrews brings the heat tonight, throwing some of his best aerial moves at MVP who is a bit shocked and starstruck at the moves being hit by Andrews. It looks like Andrews wants to heavily spoil the debut of MVP, but MVP catches him lacking with a hard right to the jaw when Andrews went for a top rope move, then pulled him off to hit the Playmaker for the win in his debut here in ECW.
When we return from break, a video plays of a confrontation earlier in the day backstage between Grizzled Young Veterans and Jimmy Havoc and Paul Robinson. Zack Gibson speaks on behalf of him and James Drake, telling the two to meet them in the ring tonight so they can teach them what true professional wrestling is, in which it is not throwing yourself through furniture with stupid gimmicks to get a ruse out of the crowd. Schiavone addresses the video, saying Paul Heyman has given the two teams the chance to compete tonight with a potential chance of gunning for ECW World Tag Team Champions, The Hart Foundation.
Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) vs. Jimmy Havoc and Paul Robinson
Early in the match, Havoc and Robinson knew they had something to prove, so they picked up the pace very quickly. Hitting high speed moves and aerial moves, they had Drake and Gibson stumbling around. Robinson brawled with Drake outside the ring for most of the match, so Havoc could go at it with Gibson and shut his mouth. After it looked like Havoc would finally put Gibson out of his misery, James Drake rolled in and hit him from behind. From then on, Gibson wore Havoc down and double teamed him with Drake. Every time Robinson would make an attempt to enter the ring, he'd get shut down by his bigger opponents. The end looked bleak for Havoc, after being hit with a brutal Hangman's DDT by James Drake. Gibson signaled for his signature Shankly Gates submission maneuver, only for Robinson to break it with a top rope dropkick. Robinson ducked a clothesline from James Drake and sent him out the ring, and went flying with a top rope crossbody. Havoc came back, hitting some key moves on Gibson, and held him by his wrist for the Acid Rainmaker. When he went for it, Havoc suddenly stopped, a loud laugh entering the sound systems in the Manhattan Center. It was none other than Mexican superstar, Rush who came out with a mic. Rush said to the fans he was tired of being held off of television and being held back so borefests like the men in the ring could occur. He says neither Gibson or Havoc is entertaining, and he has just the connections to steer things into his way in ECW that he will introduce next week. Rush smirked as the fans looked around in confusement, then headed to the back. Havoc shook his head, confused as well, only to turn around into a small package from Gibson, allowing Gibson to steal the victory for his team thanks to interference from Rush. Gibson runs up the stage with James Drake, to a loud amount of boos, while Havoc sits there being tended to by Paul Robinson.
Leading up to the main event, a video montage plays for the new ECW World Champion, Joey Janela, saying he will be here for his ECW World Title championship celebration next week. After that, Tony Schiavone and Joel Gertner go over tonight's main event, KUSHIDA vs Chris Hero with the winner becoming the first ECW World TV Champion after winning their qualifying matches at Heatwave. Gertner says he favors the international sensation in KUSHIDA more over Hero because Hero is getting older, but before they can finish their statements, the theme song of Baron Corbin plays.
Corbin walks out, holding a mic in his hands, and as he walks down boos fill the arena and chants exclaiming: "YOU GOT KNOCKED OUT!" When Corbin enters the ring, he looks to all of the fans in disgust who are all still booing him and telling him to get out the ring. When the fans are at a moderate rate of booing, Corbin finally begins to talk. He says that due to some "unfortunate circumstances" involving Chris Hero, Hero will not be in this match tonight and since he was Hero's opponent at Heatwave he will be getting the ECW TV Title shot against KUSHIDA right here right now under orders of Paul Heyman.
The boos are at an all time high, with fans chanting curse words and more to Corbin, considering he's most likely responsible for ruining a heavily anticipated title match between two great wrestlers in ECW. KUSHIDA walks out and despite being cheered and the obviously rooted for in this match he has a disgusted look on his face and isn't happy. KUSHIDA gets a mic and tells Corbin straight up that he will kick his ass and win this match for Chris Hero which gets a big pop out of the fans. Corbin tells KUSHIDA no need to dedicate it to him because he will never be in an ECW ring ever again. Corbin then hollers over to the referee and tells him to enter the ring.
Before the ref can ring the bell after both men have gotten in their corners, ready for the match, Paul Heyman comes out, telling the referee not to start just yet. Heyman looks in the ring and to Corbin specifically. He tells Corbin it was a good plan, it really was but then calls him an idiot for not thinking Heyman would come out and cut the BS. He knows that Corbin attacked Hero and in fact he knew something like this would happen, so he went calling, made some deals and had a suitable replacement in place in case some shenanigans like this would happen, in this case it did. Heyman tells Corbin that due to his attacks and ruining of the main event, he will recieve a 5,000 dollar fine and must leave the arena or he will be suspended from ECW until further notice.
Corbin screams at Heyman, upset and irate. Corbin tries to tune out the chants which are telling him to get the _ out of here. Security step in, and grab Corbin, taking him out of the ring and to the back, towards the exit of the arena where he decides to not struggle, so angry at this point. Heyman watches Corbin leave, and now announces KUSHIDA's opponent tonight for the ECW World Television Championship is...
WALTER!!!!
WALTER vs. KUSHIDA - ECW World TV Champion
This match starts off, very technical. The undefeated MMA fighter in KUSHIDA is able to easily outclass the taller and stronger WALTER in many sequences and has him stumbling around like an idiot a few times. He can't outclass him for long as WALTER breaks free from KUSHIDA's reins easily and goes straight on the attack. KUSHIDA counters a few strikes, detecting the frustration in WALTER making him rush towards him with brutal but not calculated shots. KUSHIDA goes for the legs, as these play a key part in WALTER actually going down. WALTER realizes the strategy and checks a few kicks to the legs and realizes KUSHIDA is purposely distancing away from him. The moment WALTER finally grabs ahold of KUSHIDA is when the match takes a massive turn. WALTER begins to brutalize KUSHIDA with stiff strikes and high-angle moves. KUSHIDA struggled heavily, but with perseverance he came back against WALTER with some hits of his own. From there on the match was back and forth, no definite winner confirmed by this point. After breaking from KUSHIDA's Back To The Future attempt, WALTER hit KUSHIDA with a lariat that would make Stan Hansen proud. Signaling for the end, WALTER picked up KUSHIDA and lifted him up high for a Powerbomb which would lead into a three count leaving the fans shocked that WALTER has just came into ECW and took a title without even having to work for it!
WALTER celebrates with the belt while people sit around, stunned from the sudden victory. Schiavone goes over how dangerous this man and how he decimated a wrestler like KUSHIDA and now looks hungry for more. WALTER is definitely not a guy that you want to be messing with. Gertner writes the fans off with the show ending on WALTER posing with the ECW World TV Championship.
