AEW Fyter Fest
August 17, 2019
Live from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida
AEW Fyter Fest opens up panning across the arena showing thousands of AEW fans ready for action! A multitude of signs are being displayed by crowd members such as “Omega For Champ” and “Joey Ryan Sucks.” We are treated to an impressive pyrotechnic display before we head to our commentators, Don Callis and Kevin Kelly for a breakdown of the card leading into our first contest of the evening.
Match 1
AEW World Tag Team Championships
Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus v. The Good Brothers (c)
A fun and fast paced opening contest that showed off the determination and heart of both Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus. The beginning of the match saw a back and forth battle between the speedy Jungle Boy and the crafty well-versed Anderson. At the mid-point of the match, Doc Gallows entered the match and began dominating Jungle Boy. The size advantage of Gallows proved to be too much for Jungle Boy as Gallows hit a chokeslam, knocking the wind out of Jungle Boy. The heart of Jungle Boy led him to get the tag to Luchasaurus and the tide began to change yet again. Luchasaurus managed to nail a HUGE (literally) superkick to Gallows. However, the strength of Luchasaurus and heart of Jungle Boy was not enough to put away the AEW Tag Champs as the Good Brothers hit the Magic Killer on Luchasaurus for the pinfall which Jungle Boy was unable to break up.
Winners and STILL AEW World Tag Team Champions: The Good Brothers by pinfall
Class.
Dignity.

Match 2
Joey Ryan v. “The Villain” Marty Scurll
Putting aside his usual pre-match antics, Joey Ryan aggressively charged at Scurll at the opening bell and worked over The Villain. Impressive wrestling (for once) from Joey Ryan led him to several near falls, but the fans rallying behind Scurll energized him to make a big comeback. Towards the end of the match, Scurll attempted an enziguri on Ryan who ducked, and the ref got the worst of it. As the referee was down, Ryan grabbed his Blowpop and began choking Scurll with it. Almost a minute of throttling Scurll with the candy, Scurll appeared to be incapacitated. The crowd was furious. As the referee regained his senses, Joey Ryan went for the pin but Scurll shocked the world and countered into an appropriate finish for this match - the small package.
Winner: “The Villain” Marty Scurll by pinfall
Logan Shulo appears on the big screen to a great reaction from the crowd. The interview holds a mic to his mouth and he begins to speak. Logan acknowledges the fact that he’s not wrestled in AEW yet. He says this is by design. He says an artist never rushes the composition of their newest song. Shulo promises that he will soon wrestle in AEW, but wants to make sure his solo is perfect. Then suddenly, DREW MCINTYRE appears in the shot and begins hammering away at Shulo! Shot after shot to a fallen Shulo and McIntyre is relentless! The fans boo in the background as McIntyre stands up and looks at his handiwork.
McIntyre looks at the interviewer and says that the party is over, before walking off! McIntyre has made his presence felt in AEW.
Match 3
AEW National Championship
“The Pope” Elijah Burke v. “The Machine” Brian Cage (c)
With the crowd firmly behind Brian Cage, Burke managed to block the fans out and put himself in a great position by working over the head and neck of Cage. The fighting champion Cage would not go down without a fight, using his power to his advantage by delivering a momentum shifting Gorilla Press Slam. As the “Terminator” clap begins to fill the arena, Cage started to set Burke up for the Drill Claw, but Burke countered into a roll up for another near fall. The crowd is firmly behind Cage who swings for a wild lariat, but Burke ducks, and hits the Elijah Experience for only a near fall! After several more minutes of back and forth action, the finish came when Cage attempted the Drill Claw once more, but Burke countered the move the same way he did earlier, except this time, the roll up was with a handful of tights. We have a new champion!
Winner and NEW AEW National Champion: “The Pope” Elijah Burke by pinfall
Match 4
Steel Cage Match
“Hangman” Adam Page v. “Switchblade” Jay White
The ominous steel cage structure has been put in place as a way to ensure that both men have a fair and equal opportunity to destroy the other. The Switchblade looks a bit intimidated by the structure, but Hangman has a certain fire and intensity in his eyes that we have not seen before. Page charged at White to start the match off in a very physical manner. Multiple blows to the head of White rocks the Switchblade and enables Hangman to gain the advantage early on. As several minutes elapse with Hangman in control, it’s a rake to the eyes of Hangman by White to change the momentum. At the mid-point of the match, we saw both men fighting to lunge the other into the steel cage, but it was Jay White with a huge slingshot sending Hangman face first into the cage AND busting him open. As the blood begins to pour down the face of Hangman, like a rabid dog Jay White begins to scratch, claw, and bite the bloodied forehead of Page. This gory fight came to an end when Hangman Page became enraged towards White for his disgusting antics. A huge powerbomb by Page followed by a Turn The Page (arm trap reverse STO) allowed Page to pick up the victory.
Winner: “Hangman” Adam Page by pinfall
Equal Nation Devastation composed of Big E, Xavier Woods, and Moose are seen talking to Dynamite’s beloved General Manager, Mark Henry!
Xavier Woods speaks up on behalf of his teammates and states that Mark Henry is a sellout. He says that Henry has become everything that people like him should be against. Henry fires back at Xavier and states that he’s got a chip on his shoulder and that the only prejudiced people in AEW are him and his teammates. Xavier fires back and says Henry needs to help the cause instead of fighting against it. Henry states that he’s done with this conversation, but mentions that E.N.D. might want to listen close to Henry’s announcement on the upcoming episode of Dynamite. He says that E.N.D. might be particularly interested in the announcement. Henry walks off leaving Xavier, Moose, and Big E perplexed.
Match 5
AEW Women’s Championship
Tessa Blanchard v. Beth Phoenix (c)
As an eager Tessa Blanchard stands in her corner across from a confident champion in Beth Phoenix, the bell sounds and the fans are already into this match as “Phoenix” chants break out. Beth took a moment to soak in the fanfare but Tessa did not allow it to happen for long as she charged at Beth to start working her over. This match saw a lot of offense from Tessa, but the Glamazon was able to use her strength and ring awareness to counter the offense. Halfway through the match, Tessa saw an opening and raked the eyes of Phoenix much to the disdain of the audience. From that point, Tessa continued working on the neck of Phoenix preparing to hit her finishing move. Phoenix would not lay down without a fight and managed to fight Tessa off and even came close to hitting the patented Glam Slam, but Tessa showed ring awareness of her own and countered the move right into a devastating Hammerlock DDT for the victory! The crowd is not happy about this one! We have a new AEW Women’s Champion!
Winner and NEW AEW Women’s Champion: Tessa Blanchard by pinfall
On the big screen, we get a video recap of the very intense feud between the AEW World Champion, Killer Kross, and the challenger, Kenny Omega. The video highlights various segments that have taken place between the two competitors, with sound bites from both competitors. Omega talks about how him winning the championship is for the good of AEW, while Kross talks about how he plans on destroying Omega and continuing his reign over the entire roster of AEW. Then, we head live to the arena for our main event of the evening…
Main Event
AEW World Championship
Kenny Omega v. Killer Kross (c)
“Kenny” chants fill the arena as the announcer makes formal ring introductions. Focus is painted on the face of Kenny Omega - a snarl on the face of Kross. The announcers remind us that the Kross Kult is banned from showing up to aid Kross in this match. As the bell sounded, Kross rushed to the center of the ring in an attempt to take down Kenny in the early going, but Kenny anticipated The Tollman’s aggression and sidestepped, leaving Kross wide open to be on the receiving end of the first blow of the match. However, this just angered Kross who sweeps Kenny down to the mat with an STO…
And then begins the ground and pound attack. The crowd begins to boo as Kross’s unrelenting attack forces the referee to pull him off of Kenny. For the next several minutes, Kross continues to inflict pain on Omega using a variety of moves including a backdrop driver, sitout powerbomb, and trapping headbutts. As Kross begins to become winded, the crafty Omega started to get his own wind back, seeing an opportunity…
For a huge V-Trigger! Unfortunately for Omega, this only got him a near fall. The crowd has come alive again rallying solely behind Omega. Omega picks up Kross, but Kross lets out a primal yell before kicking Omega right in the face, creating some distance…
And then hits a running knee of his own! The crowd is surprised by Kross’s agility who only gets a near fall from the knee strike. Over the next several minutes, both men continue to struggle for the advantage as this has been a rather evenly fought contest thus far. As the crowd continues to show support for Kenny Omega, the finish of the match comes when Kenny attempts to hit the One-Winged Angel on Kross, and although Omega successfully got him up on his shoulders in an impressive feat of strength, Kross wiggled free…
And hits not only one, but TWO brutal Doomsday Saito suplexes. Kross covers Kenny, and unfortunately for All Elite Wrestling, the Herald of Doomsday has retained his AEW World Championship after an incredibly hard fought contest.
Winner and STILL AEW World Champion: Killer Kross by pinfall
The crowd boos furiously towards Kross who stands up and proudly holds his AEW World Championship above his head. Kross continues to run his mouth at the fans, when suddenly, the arena goes black.
The announcers begin to speculate that a power outage has taken place. Darkness has fallen over Daily’s Place and nobody knows why, until…
What the hell?! IT’S STING! And he just laid out the AEW World Champion with a Scorpion Death Drop! We haven’t seen Sting in AEW for months after he failed to appear for his match against Killer Kross. The arena has become completely unglued as Killer Kross is out cold on the mat. “Sting, Sting, Sting” chants fill the arena as a pissed off Sting begins to exit the arena.
The announcers begin to speculate about where Sting has been all this time. Although Kenny Omega failed to take the AEW World Championship from Killer Kross, it appears that Sting is back in AEW and has his sights set on The Tollman.
