We go into the underground dungeon found beneath the floor of the Temple. Matanza Cueto finds himself back in a familiar place – the cell that Dario Cueto always kept him locked up in. Now, standing on the other side of the cell is his father, Antonio Cueto, who wears the large key to the cell door. Antonio tells Matanza that he is happy to see him, but he would rather it be under different circumstances. He’d rather they not be separated by thick iron prison cell bars. However, Matanza must remain here until Antonio feels that he can be trusted enough to be let free. He tells Matanza that he doesn’t blame him for turning against Dario, but says that Nikki Kross put him under a spell which tore his family apart, the consequence of which was the death of his brother. Matanza must repent for his brother’s death and seek forgiveness from the gods. When he has earned it, Antonio will know that he can be trusted to go free. Before Antonio leaves, he gives Matanza a gift. It is a photograph. It is a photograph of a family laughing around a dinner table. It appears to be a much younger Antonio with two children, who are presumably his sons. Matanza looks at it, throws it to the floor, raises his head skywards and lets out a loud shout full of anguish.

To kick start the evening, Antonio Cueto stands in the ring with a table and a black sheet covering something underneath it. Cueto says that he is taking this moment to say that the world’s premiere lucha event, Ultima Lucha, created by his dearly departed son Dario Cueto, is coming to the Temple soon. Ultima Lucha Tres will be a celebration of lucha libre like none before. And to honour his deceased son, Antonio will has created two new prizes. Melissa Santos removes the black sheet to reveal two large cup shaped trophies. Antonio says that these prizes will be known as the Dario Cueto Luchador Cup and the Dario Cueto Luchadora Cup. Two tournaments will be held to determine the winners of these great trophies. But what’s more is that the luchador and luchadora who win these prizes will go on to Ultima Lucha Tres to compete for the Mash-Up Wrestling Men’s and Women’s World Championships! FIRST ROUND MATCH IN THE DARIO CUETO LUCHADORA CUP TOURNAMENT
Mercedes Martinez vs. Awesome Kong
Awesome Kong defeated Mercedes Martinez in the opening match of the tournament. It was Martinez’s debut in the Temple. While Martinez is a powerful luchadora, she couldn’t rely on this aspect of her in-ring game as Awesome Kong was simply too heavy. As a result, she employed a strategy of quick strikes (a variety of mostly kicks) and maneuvers off the turnbuckles. Even so, she did a couple of high-impact power moves off, like a Samoan drop and a release German suplex. However, Awesome Kong devastated her with her power and weight advantage. For instance, she gave Martinez a gorilla press slam, an avalanche splash, a running splash, an Argentine backbreaker, and a chokeslam. This moves took a tremendous toll on Martinez. When she had nothing left in the tank, Kong executed the Awesome Bomb and pinned her for the win.

FIRST ROUND MATCH IN THE DARIO CUETO LUCHADORA CUP TOURNAMENT
Ivelisse Vélez vs. Rosemary
Ivelisse Vélez defeated Rosemary by pinfall in her first match back in the Temple since the original Ultima Lucha. She receives a warm welcome for her surprise return. She was in tough against a difficult opponent in Rosemary. The Demon Assassin brought the fight to Ivelisse, giving her several submission holds including a lotus lock, sharpshooter and the Upside Down (hanging figure-four leglock). She always showed her willingness to take flight by hitting Ivelisse with a diving crossbody and by going Coast-to-Coast (executing a corner-to-corner front missile dropkick). However, Ivelisse had her opponent well scouted and always found an escape from the fireman’s carry position that was the set up to the Red Wedding. After each escape, she executed an enzuigiri kick, a spinning heel kick, a thrust kick to the abdomen followed by a superkick. Ivelisse also struggled to put Rosemary away, giving her a variety of DDTs, including a wheelbarrow DDT, a slingshot DDT and a front chancery transitioned into a DDT. None of these did the job. It was not until she found an opportunity to execute her Desert Eagle sunset flip powerbomb that she secured the victory.

We go into the Lucha Underground training room where we see King Cuerno doing some arm curls. Magnum T.A. enters the room and asks him what he thought he was doing by attacking him and leaving him to get picked apart by their opponents in last week’s tag team match. Cuerno responds that he was sending him a message to “stay far away from me,” adding that he knows that T.A.’s been following him and he doesn’t appreciate it. T.A. feigns ignorance, but tells him that he’ll honour his wishes. After he walks out of the room, he sends a text message to Vickie Guerrero that says, “I’m getting close.”

Taya Valkyrie vs. Sexy Star
Taya Valkyrie vs. Sexy Star
Taya Valkyrie defeated Sexy Star by pinfall to advantage to the next round. Sexy Star relied on her lucha libre skills, taking to the air quite often to try to win the match. She gave Taya a missile dropkick, a diving crossbody, a moonsault, and a diving hurricanrana. She also targeted Taya’s arms. A lot of Taya’s offense came from her legs and feet. She struck Sexy Star many times with superkicks, gave her a running double knee attack in the corner, and a northern lights suplex rolled through and transitioned into a double-foot stomp. A curb stomp nearly won the match, but Sexy Star managed to get a shoulder up on the pinfall. When Taya went to the top rope and attempted a diving crossbody, she was dropkicked in mid-air. Sexy Star immediately pounced on her, putting her in a cross armbreaker. Taya made it to the ropes, but Sexy Star refused to release the hold. When the referee threatened to disqualify her, she broke the hold only to superkick him and then reapply the hold. At this point, Rosemary came out, spat red mist in her eyes and gave her the Red Wedding, as she had pledged not to allow Sexy Star to break another luchador’s arm ever again. Taya woke the referee, then gave Sexy Star the Road to Valhalla for the win.

Shayna Baszler vs. Sensational Queen Sherri w/ “Macho King” Randy Savage
Shayna Baszler defeated Sensational Queen Sherri by submission to advance to the second round. Baszler was pumped for this contest as she was intent on making Sherri pay for interfering in her match versus the Macho King a few weeks back. Baszler was of the belief that Sherri cost her the Lucha Underground Championship. Baszler made Sherri feel a lot of pain in her joints from applying armbars, a double-wristlock and anklelocks. She also through her around the ring with a variation of suplexes. However, it wasn’t smooth sailing for the Submission Magician. She also had to contend with the ringside presence the Macho King, who was trying to do for Sherri what she normally does for him. At first, he found some success in pulling Baszler off of Sherri during a pinfall attempt. When he argued with Baszler and the referee, Sherri grabbed Baszler by the hair, which prompted the referee to step in and break it up. The Macho King then tripped up Baszler, pulled her out of the ring and gave her a stiff lariat before tossing her back in. Sherri took control of the match for several minutes, and she maintained control of it through illegal and underhanded tactics. This eventually led her to going for a diving splash off the top rope. Sherri landed on Baszler’s knees and was immediately pulled into a rear naked choke. To save Sherri from taking the loss, the Macho King jumped in the ring and gave Baszler a pointed elbow drop to the head. He stomped on her and pushed the referee to the mat to keep stomping on her. Baszler received help from an unlikely source – The Godfather. He entered the ring and threw big haymakers at the Macho King before clotheslining him over the top rope. Down on the outside, he picked the Macho King up on his shoulders and gave him a Pimp Drop on the floor! Back in the ring, Sherri pulled on Baszler’s hair to lift her up but got a jumping knee strike to the jaw. After that, Baszler gave her the Ace of Spades to get the win.
