AEW Dynamite
August 1, 2019
Live from the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California
AEW Dynamite opens with a huge pyro display! Don Callis and Kevin Kelly welcome us to another scintillating edition of Dynamite as the camera pans around the arena showing fans holding signs such as “Scurll for President” and “Mike > Cody.” We waste no time as we head into our first match of the evening.
Match 1
Tony Nese v. Brian Cage
This match is Nese’s biggest opportunity to date going against the AEW National Champion. Tony Nese rushes in and tries to get the advantage on Brian Cage, who just absorbs the blows from the Premier Athlete. Despite Nese’s best efforts, Brian Cage quickly hits the Drillclaw on Nese and this one is in the books.
Winner: Brian Cage via pinfall
Match 2
Jay White v. Rich Swann
The fan favorite Rich Swann pumps himself up in the corner as the methodical Jay White observes Swann’s behavior. As the bell sounds, both men lock up and engage in a series of chain wrestling maneuvers. Swann rocks White with an enziguri followed up by a huge running hurricanrana for a near fall on White. Swann heads to the top rope and attempts the flying splash, but White gets the knees up, driving the air out of Swann. White capitalizes on the situation and hits a huge Blade Runner for the decisive victory.
Winners: Jay White via pinfall
After the match, the announcers hype up the upcoming match between Switchblade Jay White and Hangman Adam Page - a steel cage match at Fyter Fest!
The AEW World Champion, Killer Kross, appears on the big screen. He turns around to reveal the AEW Championship securely wrapped around his waist. With a sinister smile, Kross begins to speak.
“Kenneth Omega. It seems you have a bit of an issue minding your own business. After my brutal annihilation of Alberto Del Rio last week, you decided to take liberties and interrupt my post match celebration by soiling it with your lack of manners. But you didn’t stop there, did you? No. You had to make matters worse and hold up my world championship as if you were entitled to it. Let me ask you, Kenneth - do you feel entitled to my world championship? Let’s face it. You’ve done absolutely nothing to earn the right to share a ring with me, let alone touch my AEW World Championship. But I am a fair man. Let’s make a deal, Kenneth. Tonight in the main event, I’m going to send PCO and Brody King down to the ring. If you decide to show your face and battle my men in a handicap match, and if you happen to win that match, I will happily provide you with an opportunity for my championship. But that’s a mighty big ‘if’. See you later, Kenneth.”
And with that, Kross laughs as the camera pans to the next scene of Dynamite!
Match 3
"The Villain" Marty Scurll v. Joey Ryan
This is a rematch from Double Or Nothing where Scurll accepted Ryan’s Dong Style Open Challenge. The crowd is hot for The Villain as he works the crowd. The bell sounds and Joey Ryan has yet to remove his Blowpop from his mouth. The referee pleads with Joey to remove the candy, but Ryan refuses until Scurll rushes over and slaps it right out of his mouth! Joey in enraged as he rushes over to Scurll, just to kick him square in the grapefruits as this odd rivalry continues.
Winner: Marty Scurll by disqualification
Beth Phoenix is backstage. She says that she’s proven to be the most dominant women in All Elite Wrestling. She says that won’t stop her from continuing to assert her dominance. She states that she talked to AEW Dynamite General Manager Mark Henry who informed her that, next week, we will see a female battle royal to determine the number one contender for the AEW Women’s Championship.
Match 4
Mike Kanellis w/ Maria v. Brian Kendrick
Kanellis is making his in-ring debut against the wiley vet, Brian Kendrick. The bell sounds and both men lock up. Kendrick uses his speed advantage to get the early advantage over Kanellis, but the advantage doesn’t last long as Kanellis becomes aggressive and begins to ground and pound Kendrick on the mat. After a failed comeback by Kendrick, Kanellis sees the opening and hits a huge TKO on Kendrick for the win.
Winner: Mike Kanellis by pinfall
Class and Dignity.
Coming Soon to All Elite Wrestling.
Match 5
The Good Brothers v. Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy
Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy are out first to a nice pop from the crowd. The AEW World Tag Team Champs, the Good Brothers, are out next to a big ovation from the audience! Luchasaurus and Big Doc Gallows start things off for their teams. The crowd is hot and engaged in dueling chants for both competitors as both men trade power moves. After Gallows puts the beat down on Luchasaurus, AEW’s resident dinosaur makes the hot tag to Jungle Boy who comes in like a house of fire! Jungle Boy incapacitates Gallows with a huge pele kick for a near fall. Gallows manages to tag a fresh Karl Anderson, who comes in and regains control for his team. A spinning spinebuster gives Anderson the near fall. Jungle Boy tags back in to Luchasaurus and rolls back out of the ring. However, the tag champs see their opening and manage to knock off Luchasaurus with a devastating Magic Killer for the victory.
Winners: The Good Brothers by pinfall
The New Day is backstage and appears on the screen. Similar to the last edition of Dynamite, Big E and Kofi Kingston watch on as Xavier Woods begins to speak.
“I think we made it perfectly clear to our alleged fans that we don’t owe anyone an explanation. There comes a time where eventually, after you’ve been persecuted for so long, you start to give in. You start to listen to the man and you begin to conform to their ways. Why is that? Why is being US not enough? Why do you have to be a poser?”
Xavier turns his attention towards Kofi and continues to speak.
“Kofi, straight up, we’ve known each other for years. We’re shared the road together. We’ve laughed together, we’ve cried together and you know damn well what we’re capable of doing in that ring. So that leads me to the question...why? Why do you have to be such an asskisser?”
Kofi looks shocked as Big E and Xavier both stand up.
“I’ve lived my life held down because of the color of my skin, Kofi. Me and Big both. And here you are kissing white ass, having dinners with network executives and volunteering your time to organizations that only support the privileged. YOUR kind don’t belong with our kind. You are either with us, or you’re against us. You’ve made your choice. Therefore, we’ve made ours.”
Kofi stands up and looks confused as if he’s going to begin crying. He shakes his head and tries to plead with Xavier, but suddenly Big E and Xavie begin to beat down Kofi! The crowd boos in the background as Big E and Xavier stomp away at the limp body of Kofi Kingston.
“Where you at? Come show him how it’s done! Teach him a lesson!”
Moose appears in the scene with an angry scowl on his face. He picks up Kofi Kingston, throws him over his shoulder, and drives him through the sheet rock wall much to the disgust of the crowd who is reigning down boos. Moose, Xavier, and Big E look pleased with their handiwork. They walk away, leaving Kofi Kingston a broken and betrayed shell of a man.
Match 6
Handicap Match
Kenny Omega v. PCO and Brody King
Kenny Omega stands across the ring from PCO and Brody King. King steps out onto the apron and it looks like PCO will be starting off the handicap match against Omega. The bell sounds and both men begin to trade offense with Omega getting the advantage with a series of hiptosses and dropkicks. PCO gets the tag with a fresh Brody King entering the match and taking advantage of a tiring Omega. Brody King nails a series of power moves including a press slam, and then taking it to the air with a flying splash for a near fall. The fans begin to rally behind Omega but King has him grounded with a side headlock. Omega begins to make the comeback with several elbows to the gut, following a huge enziguri to create separation, followed by a V-Trigger! Omega goes for the pin but PCO quickly breaks it up. Omega continues to get in some offense on Brody King, but PCO illegally enters the ring to help his partner out. As the shenanigans continue, KILLER KROSS makes his way slowly down the ramp. As PCO distracts the referee, Kross pulls out a pair of brass knucks and nails Omega squarely in the jaw! Omega is out cold. Kross rolls out of the ring as Brody King slides over to Omega for the pin and the victory. The crowd is furious!
Winners: PCO and Brody King
As Kross enters the ring and stands alongside PCO and Brody King over a fallen Kenny Omega, the Kross Kult theme song dies down…
As Mark Henry appears on the big screen!
“No, no, no, no, NO! That ain’t how we do business around here. Killer Kross, listen up and listen real good. You might be tough but you ain’t the law around here and you damn sure ain’t gonna screw around like this. You wanna be a tough guy and issue challenges and opportunities, then you’re gonna man up and do it the right way. The way I see it, you screwed Kenny over and I don’t like that.
Let’s get something straight real quick. No disrespect to him, but my name is not Tony Khan and I will not sit back here and tolerate your B.S. So here’s what’s gonna happen. You WILL defend your AEW World Championship against Kenny Omega at the next pay-per-view, Fyter Fest! And you WILL make sure Jim Mitchell and your boys PCO and Brody King don’t show up during that match, cause if they do, not only will I fire their asses - I’ll STRIP you of that AEW Championship!”
The crowd goes wild as Killer Kross and the rest of the Kross Kult are irate!! Henry smiles on the big screen and Kross can’t believe what the Dynamite GM has said. It seems like Kross has opened up a can of worms for himself, and this time, his minions can’t help him.
Dynamite goes off the air with Omega on the outside of the ring, smiling and ready to seize the opportunity.
