AEW Dynamite
4/17/19
Live from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, SC
The scene opens up with an exciting pyrotechnic display as the fans are welcomed to the second edition of All Elite Wrestling’s weekly show, Dynamite! As the pyro blasts off, we get shots of the crowd with various fans holding creatively designed signs saying things like “Cody, Are You Okay?” and “Gangrel For AEW Champion.”
As the excitement and ballyhoo steadies itself, we are taken to ringside where Kevin Kelly and Don Callis are discussing the evening.
“Welcome to AEW Dynamite! I’m Kevin Kelly, he’s Don Callis, and what a night we have in store for you folks! But first, the wrestling world has been speculating the reasoning behind Killer Kross’s vicious attack on Cody at the end of last week’s episode of Dynamite. What do you think, Don?”
“Well I think it’s genius. I think Kross has his sights set on one thing and that’s dominance. I don’t think Kross is motivated by the AEW World Championship, I think he’s motivated to be the most dominant force in the company, but you can’t be that force without the world championship.”
“We have received many comments on social media asking for a status update on Cody and we’re glad that we can provide that to you here tonight. According to the latest reports, Cody has been diagnosed with minor blunt force trauma to the throat and is expected to be out anywhere from one to two months, all thanks to that vile human being, Killer Kross. Now, let’s get on with the show!”
We get a quick recap video of the fatal four way match from last week featuring Brian Cage, Carlito, MJF and Umaga with the AEW National Championship up for grabs. Ultimately, it was Brian Cage who got the win by outwrestling MJF to become the inaugural National Champion.
Match 1
Big Mike Elgin v Lance Archer
Big Mike makes his way to the ring to a few cheers from the crowd. He looks driven and focused as he rolls into the ring and makes his way to the corner. “The Psycho” Lance Archer is out next to some boos from the audience. He snarls at the fans along the ramp before making his way into the ring. The bell sounds and both men start off with a test of strength. Archer uses his height advantage to back Elgin into the corner and perform some basic offensive moves before hitting a big boot on Elgin after the Irish whip. Elgin gets the advantage halfway through the match delivering multiple suplex variations. It’s ultimately a lariat that sends Archer into oblivion, allowing Elgin to execute the Burning Hammer with precision and finish Archer off for the 1-2-3 at 6:22.
The camera cuts to a vignette for AEW’s most destructive stable, oVe. We hear the narrator speak in the background in a low, gravely tone.
“As far as we’re concerned, you can take your glitz and glamor and shove them up your ass…
If someone gets in our way, we run them over…
If someone pisses us off, we take matters into our own hands…
If someone screws with one of us, be prepared to fight all of us...
This goes beyond wrestling…
This is a brotherhood…
This is a warning...
...this is Ohio... Versus...Everything.”
The sound of white noise fills the Bons Secours Wellness Arena as the screen becomes engulfed with static yet again. Ohio Versus Everything has made it clear that if you mess with one, you mess with all.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
We get a quick recap video of The Young Bucks’ quick victory over the Fabulous Freebirds last week. The recap is removed from the screen as the scene switches to the Fabulous Freebirds, absent Terry Gordy, backstage wreaking havoc outside of Tony Khan’s executive office. Greenville’s finest security begins to detain the Freebirds but the scene abruptly ends, leaving the fans in the crowd confused at the legendary stable’s peculiar behavior.
Match 2
The New Day (Kofi and Woods) vs The Young Bucks
The New Day (Kofi and Woods) vs The Young Bucks
The New Day is out first to a huge reception from the crowd! As they dance on the stage, they begin throwing pancakes into the crowd, much to the delight of the fans. They enter the ring and run around as Big E stands ringside to support them. The Young Bucks is out next to a deafening response! They pose on the stage as pyro shoots out around them. They slap the hands of the fans on the way to the ring and remove their jackets after entering. The match is off to a quick start with Xavier Woods and Matt Jackson starting things off for their teams. We get several minutes of fun, high octane action from both impressive athletes displaying various dropkicks, hip tosses, and crossbodies from the top rope. It’s the Bucks that get the advantage after Matt works Xavier in their corner, leading to the tag from Nick Jackson. Nick works Xavier over until Xavier is finally able to get the hot tag from Kofi who enters the ring like a wildfire, laying waste to Nick in the ring and even sending Matt Jackson out to the floor. After more back and forth signature offense, it’s Nick Jackson that’s able to connect with a huge 450 Splash! Matt prevents Xavier from breaking the pin and the ref counts the 1...2..3! The Young Bucks get another big win at 10:12.
We go backstage and find none other than “Father” James Mitchell standing backstage wearing a vibrant purple suit. With his signature cane, Mitchell smiles in the sinister fashion only he is capable of doing.
“It seems that my words from last week have resonated with many of you. This time, I will keep my words short and sweet. I have seen things that are indescribable in my days. I have seen things that many of you could not fathom. But this?”
Mitchell strokes his beard as a look of concern grows on his face.
“I’ve never seen a force like this. I would urge you all to bow your head, close your eyes...and pray. Don’t stop praying. Whatever you do, make sure Jesus Christ himself hears your prayers. Every single one of them....will be needed.”
Mitchell’s look of concern transforms into a look of satisfaction - almost an evil form of contentment. The scene slowly fades to black.

Match 3
Tessa Blanchard vs. Brandi
Tessa Blanchard makes her way to the ring, ignoring the jeers from the crowd. Tessa doesn’t take the time to pose, but power walks to the ring. With determination, she enters the ring and seems to be extra fired up. Brandi is out next to a pop from the crowd. She smiles as a sparkly pyro blasts off around here. She slaps hands on the way down the ring, slides in and we’re off to a quick start. Tessa begins annihilating the less-experienced Brandi and pummels away with punches and kicks to the sternum. Brandi tries to escape the clutches of Tessa but she’ll have to figure out another strategy as Tessa continues to manhandle Brandi. Suddenly, Brandi hits several forearms on Tessa but it’s not enough. Tessa rocks Brandi with a huge punch in the jaw, sees her opening, and plants the skull of Brandi in the mat with the Buzzsaw. Tessa pins, the ref counts 1...2...3. Tessa makes quick work of Brandi at 4:33.
Reminiscent of last week, “The Glamazon” Beth Phoenix steps out onto the stage after Tessa’s dominant victory. Phoenix remains cool, calm, and collected. Tessa challenges Beth to come in the ring to “get her ass kicked” but Beth smiles it off, turns around, and leaves the stage. The announcers hype the impending physical confrontation between the two.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
We come back to a video recap as to last week’s events with Killer Kross injuring Cody. The video shows The Tollman’s unexpected but vicious attack on the American Nightmare. As we learned earlier, Cody will be out of action the next several weeks in an attempt to heal his injury.
Match 4
The Great Muta vs. Matt Riddle
The Great Muta makes his way to the ring. With an ominous and mysterious presence, the Japanese legend strolls down the ramp and enters the ring. Out next is Matt Riddle, this week with a pair of pink flip flops. Riddle’s cool demeanour follows him into the ring as he steps across the ring from one of his wrestling idols. The bell sounds and Riddle bows towards Muta. Muta nods as a gesture of respect and the crowd is hot already! They lock up and Muta gets the upperhand early on. Some great back and forth action occurs and the crowd is on its feet. Riddle rocks Muta with a roundhouse kick, but Muta catches the leg of Riddle and almost makes him tap out with a leg lock. The two elite athletes continue trading punches, kicks, and advanced submissions. The turning point of the match happens when Muta hangs Riddle in the tree of woe, followed up with a dropkick to the face. Riddle absorbs the punishment and catches Muta with the Final Flash! Riddle goes for the quick pin and the ref counts 1...2...3! After 15:12, Riddle has pulled off the biggest win of his career! After the match, both men shake hands.
Kevin Kelly and Don Callis recap the events of the evening so far when suddenly…
It’s Matt Morgan! The athletic big man has made his presence felt for the first time in AEW! He has a mic in hand and walks down the ramp. The crowd is excited to see Matt Morgan as he enters the ring and poses. The music dies down and he begins to speak.
“How’s it feel to finally see Matt Morgan BACK in a wrestling ring?”
The crowd pops as Morgan smiles and nods.
“I gotta tell you guys, it’s exciting to be back and when I got the call to join the AEW roster, how could I turn that down? I have dedicated the last decade and a half to this career but there is still a LOT of work left to do. I want what every other guy back there wants - I want the AEW World Championship!”
Morgan smiles as the crowd cheers “MORGAN! MORGAN! MORGAN!”
“I know I haven’t established myself here yet that’s fine, I get it. And I’m not expecting to just waltz in here and have it handed to me, but I AM expecting the opportunity to prove what everyone already knows and that is that I’m---”
Suddenly, MJF’s music hits to a chorus of boos. MJF stands on the stage and rolls his eyes.
He taunts as he makes his way to the ring. Morgan looks down at the considerably smaller MJF. MJF smirks and rips the mic out of Morgan’s hands.
“Blaaaaah blaaaaah blaaaaah. Listen, your time out here is done. I slipped the production crew fifty bucks a piece and now would you please, kindly, march your oversized ass out of my ring and let me show these hicks in Greenville what greatness actually looks like!”
It doesn’t take long for Matt Morgan to take MJF down with a big boot, followed by the HELLEVATOR! Matt Morgan taunts to the crowd as his music hits. It seems that MJF has crossed the wrong guy.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
AEW Dynamite returns from commercial break and the iconic music of GOLDBERG hits the arena! The fans go crazy as the legendary Goldberg steps out onto the stage.
He does his signature entrance and makes his way to the ring. The crowd is pumped to see one of their favorite wrestlers and arguably one of the biggest names in wrestling history. Goldberg grabs a mic.
“I’ve never been one to come out here and run my mouth like that last idiot that was out here with the scarf, so let me say this. I’ve travelled the world a hundred times over and there’s always one question that I need an answer to…WHO’S NEXT?!”
Goldberg throws the mic out of the ring as the fans go ballistic. Kevin Kelly hypes the open challenge from Goldberg as the fans cheer the infamous “GGOOOLDBERGGGG.” The mood in the arena changes with the slow, murky, ominous music of Killer Kross hits the PA system.
Oh my god - IT’S KILLER KROSS! Kross appears on the stage and the fans are shocked about the collision of titans that they are about to witness. Kross enters the ring as Goldberg sizes him up. Kross removes his sunglasses and trench coat. Both men are eye to eye in the center of the ring as the fans chant “holy sh*t!” A referee comes running down and the bell sounds!
Match 5
Goldberg v. Killer Kross
The match nobody thought they’d ever see is underway! Killer Kross and Goldberg continue to stare each other down. Goldberg looks to be in phenomenal condition reminiscent of his late 90’s physique. As the chants of “Gooooldberggg” continue in the arena, Killer Kross chuckles seemingly unphased. Both men begin to circle the ring in the feeling out process of the match. As Goldberg moves in for the first strike, suddenly the lights in the arena go out.

“GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOUR SOULS!”
A familiar voice yells in the arena as the fans have no idea what is going on. Suddenly the lights turn back on…
Don Callis: WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!
James Mitchell, Brody King, and PCO have suddenly appeared in the ring as a chorus of boos fill the Bons Secours Wellness Arena. Goldberg is down on the mat, bloodied and seemingly unconscious. James Mitchell repeatedly yells “I TOLD YOU SO!” as King, PCO, and Kross look pleased.
Kevin Kelly: I have never seen anything like this!!
Kross wipes the blood of Goldberg on his own face and taunts to the audience as the fans are stunned at what they are witnessing. Not only as Cody and Goldberg been taken out by Kross, but he seems to have have the power of “The Inhuman” PCO and the monstrous Brody King behind him. The arena is silent as EMT’s begin to fill the ring. Dynamite comes to a close with Kross, PCO, Brody King, and James Mitchell raising their hands.
The fans in attendance have no clue what to make of this, why Kross keeps taking out talent, or why PCO and Brody King are with him. Is this what James Mitchell's been talking about? Is there a force larger than AEW itself making its presence known? Many questions linger as this week's episode of Dynamite comes to a close.
