With the Million Dollar Match pay-per-view just a few days away, the AWA used their last episode of Wednesday Night Warriors to serve as both a recap, and a preview, of things to come.
Footage of the four AWA championship tournaments was shown, highlighting the competition in the various divisions. The Great Muta’s dominant run through the TV(X) title tournament, the BlueBloods’ improbable victory for the tag-team gold, Bruiser Brody’s furious march to the Intercontinental title, and lastly, Daniel Bryan’s win over Big Van Vader for the AWA Heavyweight championship.
After the commercial break, the next 30-minute segment was devoted to the influx of talent into the American Wrestling Association after its initial “draft”. The additions of world-renowned wrestlers like A.J. Styles, Scott Hall, Mike Awesome, Yoshihiro Tajiri, Wade Barrett, Beer Money, the Midnight Express, Harlem Heat, and others were all highlighted.
After the next commercial break, some of the best matches on AWA pay-per-view from the past year were shown. The double gauntlet match from the Team Challenge Series, Bryan-Vader II, the Hell in a Cell match between Magnum T.A. and Tully Blanchard – and several others – were featured, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that the AWA was the premiere wrestling organization in the network.
One final commercial break, and the final 30 minute block of TV programming was the hard sell for the Million Dollar Match. Joey Styles and Michael Hayes listed off the card, starting with eight new names for the main event: Mike Awesome, Terry Gordy, Nigel McGuinness, Magnum T.A., Paul Orndorff, William Regal, A.J. Styles, and Steve Williams.
The rest of the card – complete with preview-y video packages:
AWA Heavyweight championship match: Big Van Vader [C] vs. Daniel Bryan
AWA Intercontinental championship match: Scott Hall [C] vs. Wade Barrett
The Motor City Machine Guns vs. the Young Bucks
Badd Company vs. the Midnight Express
James Gibson vs. Mistico
